According to the report by the General Department of Customs, as of December 14, 2024, the total import-export turnover reached USD 745.38 billion, up 15.35% compared to the same period in 2023. Of this, exports amounted to USD 384.4 billion, an increase of 14.46%, while imports reached USD 360.98 billion, up 16.32%.
Vietnam’s trade balance of goods as of December 14, 2024, posted a surplus of USD 23.42 billion, which is USD 2.29 billion lower than the surplus of USD 25.71 billion in the same period of 2023.
It is forecasted that Vietnam’s total import-export turnover for the entire year 2024 could reach approximately USD 782.33 billion, with an estimated trade surplus of USD 23.53 billion.
Thanks to the positive growth in trade and the efforts of customs officers across the country, the state budget revenue collected by the customs sector from January 1 to December 14, 2024, reached VND 402,680 billion, achieving 107.4% of the target and increasing by 13.9% compared to the same period in 2023.
Based on the actual revenue performance over the past period, the General Department of Customs projects the total revenue for the whole year 2024 to reach VND 418,000–420,000 billion, equivalent to 111.5–112% of the assigned target, representing a 13.4–13.9% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
