According to Regulation No. 69-QĐ/TW of the Politburo on disciplining Party members for violations, all Party members are equal before the Party’s disciplinary measures.
Never before has a term seen so many central officials, especially Politburo members, face disciplinary actions. To date, six members of the 13th-term Politburo have been disciplined:
- Mr. Phạm Bình Minh
- Mr. Vương Đình Huệ
- Mr. Trần Tuấn Anh
- Mr. Đinh Tiến Dũng
- Mr. Nguyễn Xuân Phúc
- Ms. Trương Thị Mai
Mr. Võ Văn Thưởng has not been disciplined due to undergoing medical treatment.
As stipulated, “Party members who are pregnant, on maternity leave, suffering from critical illnesses or loss of cognitive ability, or seriously ill and receiving inpatient treatment in a hospital certified by competent medical authorities (at district level or higher) will not be considered for disciplinary action during this time.”
