Long Thanh International Airport, spanning 5,000 ha, has an expected investment capital of around VND336.6 trillion ($14.3 billion).
The 5,000-hectare Long Thanh International Airport project has a total estimated investment of about 336,630 billion VND, starting in early 2021, divided into three phases. The first phase of the project is to build a runway, passenger terminal and auxiliary items with a capacity of 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of goods a year.
The passenger terminal is the most important item of the airport project in phase 1. This is the plan of Heerim Architects and Planners Co., Ltd (Korea), taking the lotus image as the main idea and used Used throughout the design process, applied to the roof, perspective from the main view of the station, and interior of the check-in lobby area.
The first phase of the project, which started in 2021, includes the construction of a runway, terminal and accompanying infrastructure, will be completed in 2026, will serve 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of goods per year.
Once in operation, it will replace HCMC’s Tan Son Nhat as Vietnam’s largest airport.
Phase 2, the airport is built with an open runway and terminal to reach a capacity of 50 million passengers/year. Phase 3 completes the remaining items so the airport can reach a capacity of 100 million passengers/year.
